Dr. Kate Sweetman
Veterinarian
Dr. Kate Sweetman received her undergraduate degree in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016. After she returned to Windsor to practice alongside her father at the Downtown Veterinary Hospital. She followed in her father’s footsteps and has a passion for exotic animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets and reptiles. She volunteers annually with the Ontario Turtle Conservation Center and loves to help the wild turtle population. On her days off she loves spending time with her little Yorkie Huebert, and her loving husband.
Dr. Jim Sweetman
Veterinarian
Dr. Jim Sweetman graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1981 and started Downtown Veterinary Hospital in 1984. He moved to our current location in 1990 and practiced until 2022 where he handed the reins over to his daughter, Dr. Kate Sweetman. Dr. Jim Sweetman has a passion for all animals especially reptiles and exotics where he pioneered for their care and treatment in the Windsor area. Now that he is retired, Dr. Jim Sweetman follows his passion of gardening, traveling and fishing. He escapes the cold of winter and enjoys spending the season down in Costa Rica with friends and his adopted Costa Rica dog, Bandita. You may see his celebrity appearances and he does love to come by the clinic and say hello to staff and clients..

Business Manager
Pam Sweetman has been working at Downtown Veterinary Hospital for over 30 years as office manager. These days she is taking more of a part time roll and helping out behind the scenes. In her free time she enjoys the company of her Boston Terrier, Trooper, going for walks, kayaking, gardening and traveling.
Shelley
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Shelley has been a practicing RVT for over 40 years and enjoyed teaching within the Veterinary Technician Program at St Clair College for many of those years. She is an active member of the Standardbred Horse Racing community and supports many of their initiatives in Ontario racing. Her passion for animal care extends to her dogs, cats, horses and ducks along with many other animals that called her farm home over the years Shelley has been a team member of the Downtown Veterinary Hospital since it’s inception and treats every hospital patient like her own ❤️
Paula
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) & Hospital Manager
Paula has been an RVT and has been working at DVH for over 30 years. During her free time Paula enjoys cuddling with her dog Dakota and spending time with her husband traveling, kayaking, and scuba diving.
Lisa
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Lisa has been an RVT for over 15 years. Lisa has the nickname “cat whisperer”, or when needed, “lion tamer”. Her skills include calming stressed kitties, coaxing sick ones to eat, or speaking their language. Don’t let her cat talk fool you, her true loves of her life follow her wherever she goes in the forms of Biggie and Buttons, her two pugs.
Josh
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Josh is an RVT who has been working at DVH for over 10 years He has a dog named Beast who has quickly become his whole world. If he’s not playing or walking her he enjoys a good game of hoops to stay active. He is also a budding artist and spends much of his free time working on his music.
Becky
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Becky is an RVT who has been working at DVH for over 5 years. She has four cats: Victor, Artemis, Oliver, and Violet. She has a special interest in large breed dogs and rabbits as she has owned both in the past. When she’s not at work she enjoys playing sports, camping, and playing with her boyfriend’s border collie, Bunker.
Nhi
Veterinary Assistant
Nhi has been at DVH for over 8 years. She has a jackrussel/pug mix named Kiki and two cats ,a brown tabby named Archie and a grey cat name Kovu. Nhi helps out around the clinic by assisting Dr. Kate and the veterinary technicians. Nhi also cares for and spoils the animals that are hospitalized and board at DVH. On her time off she enjoys spending the day with her critters, reading a book, spending time with friends , going for a walk with her dog or bugging her sisters. 🙂
